Su ESPN America gli “ESPY Awards 2011”
Per il terzo anno consecutivo sarà ESPN America (canale 214 di Sky) a trasmettere in esclusiva gli «ESPY Awards» (acronimo di Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award), gli Oscar dello Sport, premio annuale giunto alla 19ª edizione, riservato ai migliori atleti e alle migliori performance del mondo dello sport. L’intera cerimonia, che si è tenuta lo scorso 13 luglio al «Nokia Theatre» di Los Angeles, sarà trasmessa, in prima visione assoluta, domenica 17 luglio alle ore 16.00 (il red carpet in onda alle ore 15.30). A presentare la serata per il secondo anno consecutivo Seth Meyers, l’attore comico che nel popolare show «Saturday Night Live» conduce ogni settimana un tg satirico simile a «Striscia la Notizia».
Oltre a celebrare il meglio dello sport americano, gli ESPY Awards rendono omaggio ai più grandi atleti del mondo. Sul palco tutti i protagonisti dell’ultima stagione: da Dirk Nowitzki, che ha conquistato l’anello NBA con i suoi Dallas Mavericks, ad Aaron Rodgers, campione NFL con i Green Bay Packers, passando per Tim Thomas (campione NHL con i Boston Bruins) e Blake Griffin, miglior rookie NBA della scorsa stagione con la maglia dei Los Angeles Clippers. I premi sono stati assegnati sulla base dei voti espressi dal pubblico (entro il 9 luglio) sul sito di ESPN, su facebook o sulle applicazioni mobile di ESPN.
Oltre agli atleti più titolati, si sono dati appuntamento a Los Angeles anche i grandi nomi dello spettacolo. Tra le star più acclamate, i cantanti Justin Bieber e Justin Timberlake, e l’attore Ryan Reynolds. Tutti insieme festeggiano un anno di sport salutando le imprese e gli atleti migliori della stagione 2010/2011. Come da tradizione, gli ESPY’s premiano sia i migliori atleti di ogni singola disciplina (ad esempio, il miglior giocatore dell’NFL) sia i migliori atleti in categorie trasversali (ad esempio, la migliore squadra o il miglior atleta maschile).
